Mary was born in 1867 in Kempsford Glouscestershie.1   Mary's father was Capt Ralph Bradford and her mother was Amy.  Her paternal grandparents were Sir Thomas Bradford and Mary Ann.  She was the third of four children.  She had two brothers and a sister, named Henry, Thomas and Lucy.
