Samuel's father was John Fryer Goad and his mother was Anna Maria Paul. He had two brothers named John and John. He was the youngest of the three children. He died at the age of 30 on October 10th, 1847 in Barrackpore.2

On the 10th of October last, suddenly, at Barrackpore, Lieutenant _.T.A. Goad, 29th Regiment of bengal Native Infantry, deeplt re- _etted by his brother officers, who as a lasting tribute of their regard, _ave erected a tomb over the remains.
