Sarah was born in 1840.1  Sarah's father was Robert Ward and her mother was Lydia Everett.  Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Ward and Elizabeth Winch; her maternal grandparents were William Everett and Mary Argent. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Henry, William, Jane and Mary.  She was the youngest of the five children.
