In the name of God Amen I Samuel Stickland of Budleigh Salterton late Officer of the Customs being in perfect health of Body and perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die and ordain that my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hand of the almighty God that gave it and my Body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my wife or children nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it have pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form First I give to Grace my dearly beloved wife all my lands house and furniture and all that I am possessed of for her life and after her death the whole of my said lands houses and furniture and property I give and devise unto and to be equally divided between my sons and daughters Samuel Stickland, William Stickland, Ann Stickland, Elizabeth Carter and Isabella Stickland their Heirs Executors Administrators Assigns as Tenants in Common and I do hereby utterly revoke and disannul all and every former Testaments Wills Legacies Bequests ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament and I nominate and appoint the said Grace my Wife Sole Executrix of this my Will In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Seventeenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixteen
