John was born in 1735 and his baptism took place on December 18th, 1735 in Thorne.1  John's father was Stephen Staniland and his mother was Sarah Grayburn.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Staniland and <Unknown>.  He died at the age of 74 on August 6th, 1809 in Thorne.1
