Martha was born before 1709 and her baptism took place on November 13th, 1709 in Silkstone, Yorkshire, England. Martha's father was John Senior (of Silkston) and her mother was Martha Biltcliff.  Her paternal grandfather was Thomas Senior (Dodworth); her maternal grandparents were Robert Biltcliff and Mary. She had eight brothers and three sisters, named Johnathan, John, George, John, John, Francis, Richard, Joseph, Mary, Ann and Eliiz..
