Mary's father was John Freestone (of Redenhall) and her mother was Mary Threadgate.  Her paternal grandparents were John Freestone (of Redenhall) and Elizabeth Evans. She had two brothers and a sister, named John, William and Elizabeth.  She was the second oldest of the four children.
