John was born before 1732 and his baptism took place on November 26th, 1732 in Methwold.1  John's father was John Flatt and his mother was Elizabeth Peache.  His paternal grandparents were Andrew Flatt (of Methwold) and Elizabeth. He had two sisters named Elizabeth and Jane.  He was the oldest of the three children.
