Elizabeth was born in 1764 and her baptism took place on April 1st, 1764 in Chipping Sodbury.1  Elizabeth's father was Mathew Dowdell and her mother was Mary Combe. She had four sisters named Sarah, Mary, Susannah and Ann.  She was the second oldest of the five children.
