Elizabeth was born in 1826 and her baptism took place in 1826 in Witson, Wales. Elizabeth's father was Samuel Curnock and her mother was Rachel. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Curnock and Hannah Close. She had two brothers and a sister, named Samuel, William and Hestor. She was the oldest of the four children.
