John was born on August 2nd, 1868 in Gordan, GA.  John's father was Charles Floyd Minter and his mother was Martha Jane Chambers. He had two brothers named M and Charles.  He died from a stroke at the age of 78 on May 20th, 1947 in Columbus, GA.  The funeral took place on May 28th, 1947.
