Gertruida Maria Rootman

Gertruida Maria was born on August 31st, 1879 in Swellendam.¹ Gertruida Maria's father was Marthinus Johannes Rootman and her mother was Zacharia Geertruida Fouche. Her paternal grandparents were Johannes Marthinus Rootman and Anna Helena Prinsloo. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Andries Johannes, Philippus Johannes, Anna Helena, Elizabeth Martha and Petronella Catharina. She was the second oldest of the six children. She died at the age of 21 on March 12th, 1901 in Kimberley.¹
