Adriaan Hermanus, known as Attie, was born on October 11th, 1876.1   Attie's father was Christoffel Hendrikus Gerhardus Rootman and his mother was Isabella Jacoba Prinsloo.  His paternal grandfather was Lourens Johannes Rootman and his paternal grandmother is <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents are <Unknown> and <Unknown>. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Lourens Johannes, Wilhelm Johannes, Christoffel Hendrik, Frans Frederik, Petronella Wilhelmina Maria, Isabella Jacoba and Johanna Jacoba.  He died at the age of 62 on March 1st, 1939.1
