Bothata's father was Mojaki Maxwell Masithela and his mother is MaPhello  .  His paternal grandfather was Piinyane (Pii) Masithela and his paternal grandmother is MaNthakong MaTseliso. He had five brothers named Phello , Tlhoriso, Leponesa, Sera and Ketso.  Bothata is no longer alive.
