"Man Killed, Four Others Injured.
CHARTERS TOWERS. December 27.
David Oshyer, 40, single, labourer, was killed and four others were injured, three seriously, when a truck with five Charters Towers residents aboard crashed through the guard rail of the Hawkesbury bridge which spans a railway cutting about 16 ft. deep. The truck struck the opposite bank of the cutting and fell back on top of the men aboard. Oshyer was dead when he arrived at the hospital."

"TOWERS FATALITY.
Truck Driver Charged.
CHARTERS TOWERS, December 29.— Following the motor fatality at the Hawkesbury Bridge on Friday, Stanley Watson Gadd Simpson, aged 27, cyanider, appeared in the Police Court on Saturday morning, charged that he unlawfully killed David Oshyer. Be was legally represented by Mr. Jno P. Francis. Evidence of arrest was given by Plain Clothes Constable T. P. Donovan, after which a remand to January 6 was granted. Bail was allowed, self in £80 with one surety of £80 or two of £40. The condition of the three men, Francis Weeks, George Wright and James Oshyer, who were injured when the truck fell into the Hawkesbury cutting on Friday evening, is still re- garded as serious, but with all possible being done for them in hospital, the authorities hold out hope for their recovery."
Burried in the Charters Towers Cemetery.
Died in a single car accident at Hawhesbury railway Bridge in Charters Towers, in 1940 at the age of 41. He was dead upon arrival at the hospital in the ambulance. David was single and employed as a casual laboured at the time of his death. He is buried in the Charters Towers Cemetery.

Qld Death Cert No. 1941/C562 states that the death of David Oshyer was registered in 1941. His father's name was Peter OSHYER and his mother's name was Mary Ann OSHYER (nee James).
