Nicolai was born on January 1st, 1712 in Maasbüll, Denmark.1   Nicolai's father was Jens Petersen Björnsen and his mother was Anna Catharina Marquardsen.  His maternal grandparents were Marquard Petersen Björnsen and Anna Margaretha.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 55 on May 1st, 1767 in Husby, Denmark.1
