"HALBERSTATER-McEVOY
Of town and country interest was the wedding of Elizabeth Ellen, younger daughter of the late Mr and Mrs J. J. McEvoy, Table Mountain, Boongary, to John Anthony, second son of the late Mr M. Halberstater and Mrs Halberstater, Wongalee, Walmul, D.V. Line, which was celebrated at St Joseph's Cathedral. Rockhampton, by the Rev. Father Page, at 7 p.m. on December 8. Both the bride and bridegroom are members of well-known pastoral families of the Central District.
Entering the Cathedral with her eldest brother, Mr J. McEvoy, who gave her away, the bride looked very dainty in her full-length frock of white satin, which was tight-fitting and pin-tucked to the hips, whence it fell in soft flares to form a small train. The sleeves, which were elbow-length, were also pin tucked, and for "something old" the bride wore a beautiful diamond star brooch, which was worn by her mother on her wedding day. Her long, flowing tulle veil was held in place with two white camellias, and she carried a shower bouquet of roses and frangipanni tied with satin ribbon.
Her only bridesmaid was Miss Phyllis Shea, who looked charming in an Old World frock of pale pink net over stiffened tulle, featuring a heart-shaped neckline and full puffed sleeves. The bodice was heavily shirred to the waist- line, the skirt being very full. Her waist-length veil of tulle was held in place with two pink camellias and she carried a bouquet of pink orchids tied with satin ribbon. Mr Miles Parsons (Mt Morgan) carried out the duties of best man.
Miss T. Liddy presided at the organ and during the signing of the register Miss Marlon Mackay rendered an Ave Marla.
The reception was held at the Majestic cafe, where the guests were received by the bride's aunt (Miss Maher), who chose a becoming frock of navy riptide allied with navy accessories. She wore a corsage of white frangipanni. She was assisted by the bridegroom's mother, who wore a smart frock of black mariette, with black accessories. Pride of place was given to a three tiered cake made by the bride's aunt, Mrs A. Monckton, and iced by Miss Peg Monckton. Only relatives and im- mediate friends of the bride and bride- groom were present.
Subsequently the happy couple left by car for Yeppoon, where the honeymoon is being spent. The bride travelled In an emerald and white sports costume, with accessories to tone."
