"Mr. and Mrs. Edward Boyle, of Jubilee Hill, celebrated their golden wedding on the 12th inst. (i.e. married on the 12th January 1874). On that day 50 years ago at Sligo, Ireland, Edward Boyle, eldest son of Owen and Nancy Boyle, Malinmore, County Donegal, was married by the Rev. Father Sloane, to Maria, daughter of William and Sarah Lovett, of Sligo. They arrived at, Bundaberg, Queensland, in 1884, and resided there with their family until 1900. Mr. Boyle built some of the principal buildings, including the Catholic Church, Con vent of the Sisters of Mercy, Commercial Bank of Sydney, Metropolitan Club Hotel, Gympie Hotel, and several shops and dwellings. They had one daughter and seven sons, and have now 14 grandchildren. In 1900 Mr. and Mrs. Boyle left Bundaberg for Gympie, where Mr. Boyle built the court house, the cable station at Southport, and also the second section of the Queen's Hotel, Townsville. Since then they have resided in Mount Morgan. Their children are Mrs. Malynn, Mount Morgan, J. F. Boyle, McDonnell and East, Brisbane, E. J. Boyle (Rockdale, N.S.W.), J. J. Boyle (Brisbane), W. P. Boyle (Blackall, Q.), T. C. Boyle (92 Derby-street, Rockhampton). Thanksgiving Masses were celebrated at St. Joseph's Cathedral, Rockhampton, and at Sacred Heart Church, Mount Morgan."
