The Evening News (Rockhampton, Qld) - Monday 20 July 1925
"THE LATE EDWARD BOYLE.
MOUNT MORGAN, 20-7-25.— By the passing of Mr. Edward Boyle on Friday afternoon (17-July-1925) Mount Morgan, lost a man of the highest character and integrity.
Born in Marlinmore, County Donegal, Ireland, almost 80 years ago, the late Mr. Boyle came to Australia in 1883, landing on the 11th July of that year in company with his wife and three children. He settled in the then primitive township of Bundaberg, where he followed his trade as carpenter.
Eventually he took up the calling or building contractor and whilst thus engaged he erected some of the most, prominent buildings in that city, some of which stand as monuments to his architectural ability to this day. Apart from the erection of Bundaberg buildings he was also responsible for the erection of the Southport Cable Station, Gympie Court House, and the Queen's Hotel in Townsville.
He was a lovable man of noble ideals, unassuming and will be missed greatly by a large circle of friends, and particularly the children of the town, for whom he always had a cheery word and sound advice. He was a pillar of strength to the Catholic Church and Hibernian Society, having been a member of the Society for 42 years.
The sympathy of the Mount Morgan people goes out to his aged widow and family who survive him, namely, Mrs. T. Malynn, John Francis, Edward Joseph, James, William, and Thomas Conal Boyle."
