Ludwig was born on December 9th, 1876 in Beuthen, Oberschlesien,. Ludwig's father was Herman (Zvi) Halberstädter and his mother was Henrietta Prager.  His paternal grandparents were Louis Ludwig Eliezer Halberstädter and Johanna (Ann) Landsberg; his maternal grandparents were Dr Moritz Prager and Eva Haase. He had three brothers and a sister, named Bruno, Ernst, Georg and Gertrude.  He was the youngest of the five children.  He died at the age of 72 on April 20th, 1949 in New york city, New York, USA.  He was buried on April 21st, 1949 in Riverside Cemetery, Saddle Brook Bergen County New Jersey, USA.1
