Almando was born in 1883 in Gibraltar.  Almando's father was Jose PODESTA and his mother was Maria TORRES.  His paternal grandparents were PODESTA and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were <Unknown> and <Unknown>. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Joseph (Jose), Albert, Federico, Alejandro, Vincente, Miguel, Maria, Victoria and Luisa.  He was the second oldest of the ten children.
