Richard MORTLOCK 
Richard was born on February 11th, 1696 in Glemsford. Richard's father was John MORTLOCK and his mother was Elizabeth TIFFEN. His paternal grandparents were John MORTLOCK and Elizabeth PETTIWARD. He had two brothers and a sister, named John, Peter and Mary. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 74 on September 4th, 1770 in Boxted.-

In medieval England and well into the 18th century Yeoman was used to describe land owners considered only one step down from the gentry classes. They would have been free men living in large country farmhouses and employing many indoor/outdoor servants.
Richard's occupation was Yeoman full time in agriculture in Kersey.
