Walter was born in 1864 in Brettenham and his christening took place there on May 15th, 1864. Walter's father was George MILLS and his mother was Judith Mary Ann GOULD. His paternal grandparents were John MILLS and Mary HURRELL; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Bixby GOULD and Sarah Ann BEAUMONT. He had two brothers and six sisters, named William, Charles, Mary, Alice, Jane, Kate, Arthur and Laura.-
