Edward was born in 1764 in Saint Mary Cray and his christening took place there on October 26th, 1764.  Edward's father was Edward JEAL and his mother was Elizabeth LANE.  His paternal grandparents were Edward JEAL and Sarah DEAN. He had two sisters named Sarah and Elizabeth.  He was the oldest of the three children.
