Joseph was born in 1879 in Shepton Mallet. Joseph's father was Alexander GERMAIN and his mother was Caroline. His paternal grandparents were George Daniel GERMAIN and Ann GRIMBLE. He had two brothers and a sister, named George, Robert and Agnes. He was the second oldest of the four children.-
