Arthur was born on November 6th, 1864 in Bromley. Arthur's father was George Richard BATSFORD and his mother was Emma BOXALL. His paternal grandparents were Richard BATSFORD and Martha CASTLE; his maternal grandparents were George BOXALL and Sophia KIBBLE. He had six brothers and a sister, named George, William, John, Robert, Edward, Walter and Eliza. He was the third youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 84 in 1948 in Surrey.
