Alice was born in March 1860 in Dobcross.1  Alice's father was David Wood and her mother was Ellen Buckley (nee Bentley). She had two brothers and a sister, named Arthur, Charles and Elizabeth. She had an adopted sister named Martha.  She died at the age of 20 in 1880.
