Edwin was born in September 1849 in Birtle.1  Edwin's father was William Wilkinson and his mother was Sarah Barlow. He had a brother and three sisters, named John, Mary, Mary and Alice.  He was the second oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 1 in November 1850 in Ashworth.  He was buried on November 19th, 1850 in Ashworth.2
