George was born on December 24th, 1851 in Oldham and his baptism took place there on March 14th, 1852.1 2  George's father was <unknown> and his mother was Elizabeth Whitehead. He had a sister named Mary.  He was the older of the two children. He had a half-brother named John.  He died at the age of 64 in June 1916 in Oldham.

‌George and Sarah were married in a religious ceremony on January 1st, 1878 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Prestwich).3   They had three sons named Tom, Frank and Sidney.  There are possibly more children.
