Ronald's father was Archibald Turner and his mother was Edith Mary Rigby.  His paternal grandparents were John Turner and Alice Martha Pritchard. He had three sisters named Phyllis, Edith and Elsie.  He was the second youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 75 in 1997 in Birkenhead.
