James was born in 1775 in Malpas and his baptism took place on May 6th, 1775 at St. Oswalds (Malpas).1  James' father was Peter Tomlinson and his mother was Mary Peears.  His paternal grandparents were John Tomlinson and Ellen (Eleanor) Clutton. He had two brothers and a sister, named John, Thomas and Mary.  Thomas and James were twins.  He died in July 1775 in Malpas.  He was buried on July 3rd, 1775 in Malpas.2 2
