George was born in March 1868 in Tyldesley.1  George's father was Thomas Seddon and his mother was Ruth Riley. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Joseph, Isaac, Thomas, Ann and Martha.  He was the second youngest of the six children.

‌George and Sarah were married in a religious ceremony on September 17th, 1892 in Tyldesley.2  They had two sons and a daughter, named Robert, Frank and Louisa.  There are possibly more children.
