Sarah Elizabeth Stewart Mather

Sarah was born in 1859 in Tonge-with-Haulgh and her baptism took place on February 20th, 1859 at St. Leonard (Middleton).¹²

Sarah's father was Moses Mather and her mother was Lydia Lancashire. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Sarah (Sally) Stewart. She had a brother and two sisters, named Richard, Margaret and Lydia. She was the second oldest of the four children.

General Notes
- Although fully named when baptised Feb 1859, Sarah Elizabeth Stewart Mather's birth was not registered. Therefore, she may have been adopted.
  
  1 Jan 1870, Sarah Elizabeth Steward Mather (20), a Weaver from Tonge, daughter of Moses a labourer, married Charles Ammon Ramsden (24), a Jobber from Tonge, son of Thomas Ramsden, a Weaver at Prestwich. Here sister Margaret also married here later the same year.
