Mary was born on February 25th, 1755 in Eccles.1  Mary's father was Geoffrey (Jeffery) Mather and her mother was Ann Smith. She had two brothers and three sisters, named John, Thomas, Ann, Sarah and Elizabeth.  She was the oldest of the six children.  She died at the age of 46 on October 1st, 1801 in Little Hulton.  She was buried in October 1801 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Eccles).1
