Emily, known as Emma, was born in 1855 in Maryland (MD).1  Emma's father was James Mather and her mother was Francis H Fontayne.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and <unknown>. She had a brother and a sister, named James and Eliza. She had an adopted sister named Louise.
