Joseph's father was John Lewis and his mother was Mary. He had three brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Richard, Joseph and Ann.  He was the second youngest of the five children.  He died about 1793 in Neston.

  Must have died an infant, as next son is also Joseph.  No death records for Neston, but possibly burried at Bebington in 1793.
