Frederick was born in September 1880 in Heywood.1  Frederick's father was Orlando Kay and his mother was Elizabeth Mather (Wolntenholme). He had a brother named Edward. He had an adopted brother named George.  He died at the age of 2 in June 1883 in Oldham.2
