John was born in February 1794 in Shotton and his baptism took place on February 19th, 1794 in Hawarden.1  John's father was Joseph Jones and his mother was Margaret Millington.  His maternal grandparents were John Millington and Margaret Youde. He had two brothers named Joseph and Thomas.  He was the youngest of the three children.
