Ethel's father was William Jones and her mother was Mary Ollerhead. She had two brothers and two sisters, named William, Humphrey, Rhoda and Mary. She was the second oldest of the five children. She died at the age of 79 in 1967.

General Notes
- Ether's birth was registered Q1 1888. There was also a Mary birth registered Q2 1888, both at Neston with MMN = OLLERHEAD. Perhaps Mary was a twin that died an infant as another Mary was born in 1889. However, there is no infant death registered (in the Wirral, although three in 1889 in Liverpool)
