John was born in 1782 in Entwistle and his baptism took place on March 17th, 1782 at St. Anne (Turton).1  John's father was John Isherwood and his mother was Esther Entwistle. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Ralph, Ralph, John, Mary, Ann, Margaret, Alice and Jane.  He died at the age of 66 in July 1848 in Turton.  His burial was on July 6th, 1848 at St. Anne (Turton).2
