Frederick was born in August 1880 in Wisconsin.1   Frederick's father was Gustav Dittmer and his mother was Jennie Eunicia Hatch.  His paternal grandparents were Frederick Dittmer and Marie (Mary) Stienhaur or Roehl. He had a brother and three sisters, named Clarence, Bessie, Florence and Margueritte.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 71 in 1951.
