John, Inn Keeper, son of William Diggle, a police officer. There are two John Diggles publicans, and it is likely the DOB and 1841 census may be for the other.
9 Jan 1820, John Diggle married Mary Turner at Rochdale.
In June 1841, John and Mary Diggle (40 & 50) were publicans at Burnsel Head near Royton, Middleton. Their son John (21) was a shoemaker.
24 Dec 1848, John Diggles, Inn Keeper of Queens Street, Salford, son of William a police officer married Sarah Thomas, daughter of John Mather, a weaver at Salford.
In 1851, John Diggle (57), publican and wife Martha (51) were at Thornham with 5 lodgers, all brick makers. This is another John Diggle (b.1799), publican, son of Jonathan who married Martha Hilton in 1849 at Prestwich.
