Jane was born on April 8th, 1845 in Berry Brow and her baptism took place on April 23rd, 1847 in Almondbury.1  Jane's father was James Crosland and her mother was Hannah Lockwood. She had a brother and five sisters, named Allen, Sarah, George, Ann, Emma and Betty.  She was the youngest of the seven children.
