Hilda's father was William Collier and her mother was Lily Heaton.  Her maternal grandparents were Richard Heaton and Jane Clegg. She had two brothers named Ernest and Fred.  She was the youngest of the three children.  She died at the age of 85 on March 25th, 2011 in Bolton.

‌Hilda and Daniel were married in a religious ceremony in March 1950 in Horwich.²   They had a son named Michael.
