Sarah was born in April 1764 in Faddiley and her baptism took place on April 1st, 1764 in Acton by Nantwich.1  Sarah's father was Samuel Brereton and her mother was Sarah Shone.  Her paternal grandparents were William Brereton and Sarah Shelley. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, John, William, Mary and Hannah.  She was the second youngest of the six children.
