Ida's father was Marius Shaltiel and her mother was Esther Castoriano (Shaltiel).  Her paternal grandparents were <Unknown> and <Unknown>; her maternal grandparents were Yehuda Castoriano and Cochava Castoriano.  She is the youngest of eight children.  She has four brothers and three sisters, named Moshe, Yehuda, Yomtov, Jako, Yona, Cochava and Rachel.
