John's father was Knight Henry Fitz Roger and his mother was Elizabeth de Holand.  His paternal grandparents were Roger Martel and Joan; his maternal grandparents were Knight Robert de Holand and Maud La Zouche.  He was an only child.  He died about 1370.¹
