Notes: “The earl died on Saturday the eve of the Invention of the Holy Cross, 51 Edward III” [Somerset IPM, taken at Yeovil 29 May 1377];2 “He died at Tiverton upon Saturday next preceeding the Invention of the Holy Crofs, the laft Year of Edward III.”3 Cleaveland stated the 2nd Earl died at Tiverton, which is very probable, as the Earl signed the codicil to his will there, five days before his death, on 27 April 1377.
Burial: Place: Exeter Cathedral, Devon
Notes: “In his last will of 1375 he requested to be buried in the parish church of Tiverton, but by a codicil dated shortly before his death he changed his mind in favour of Exeter Cathedral. His tomb was eventually placed in the nave, opposite that of Bishop Brantingham.”4
