Note: Date of intention for marriage to Martha Story [second wife of Thomas Butler] was published 16 Jan 1719. Thomas was a cordwainer in Chebacco Parish. He and Martha moved to Hopkinton, Massachusetts in 1745 and had a farm adjacent to the estates of Sir Charles Henry Frankland. Thomas and Martha [Martha Story, second wife of Thomas Butler] appear on 8 May 1719 for an exchange of woodland with Samuel Cogswell for a Gloucester woodlot. On 10 March 1731/32, Thomas and Martha "for love and affection" give to their son, Thomas, an undivided half of a right in Pond Neck division in Chebacco. Thomas and Martha were dismissed from the Chebacco church to that of Hopkinton, Middlesex, Massachusetts in 1745 but they do not appear on the list of church members, except for a reference to a Martha Butler who joined the church 1 Feb 1756, twelve years later.
