Pierre was born on February 10th, 1807 in Lummen.¹ Pierre's father was Joseph Oyen and his mother was Anna Catharina Gaethofs. His paternal grandparents are Pierre Oyen and Anna Gijsens; his maternal grandparents were Petrus (Pierre) Gaethofs and Maria Schaenen (Schraenen). He had four sisters named Angelique, Marie Therese, SN and SN. He was the oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 67 on November 2nd, 1874 in Brugge.
